
University of the Philippines is now on its 102nd year of existence.
MANILA, Philippines – Four Philippine universities made it to the Top 200 Asian Universities for 2011 based on Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings, which has been published annually since 2009. It ranks the region's best universities based on a wide range of criteria including research quality, teaching quality, graduates employability and internationalization. Rankings were released on Monday, May 23.
Philippines' premiere university—University of the Philippines ranked at number 62 in Asia. Ateneo de Manila University followed at rank 65th, University of Santo Tomas at 104th, and De La Salle University at 107th.

This year's ranking, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology moves up from last year’s second place to top the list, while University of Hong Kong drops to the second spot and the National University of Singapore still remains in the third place.
Other 11 universities occupied the 201+ ranking in Asia, and these are Mindanao State University, Xavier University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Silliman University, Father Saturnino Urios College, Mapua Institute of Technology, Adamson University, Saint Louis University, Central Mindanao University, University of San Carlos, and University of Southeastern Philippines.
