Pacquiao wins anew, retains WBO title

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos and boxing fans were in jubilation over the 32-year-old boxer-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao’s victory over Shane Mosley in their recently concluded bout at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada with an estimated 16,412 spectators,  on May 7. He retained his World Boxing Organization welterweight title.

Pacquiao garbed with yellow gloves, which President Benigno Aquino III called the boxing champ after winning  the match said in a statement, “No doubt, Manny Pacquiao is truly a hero: the pound-for-pound king who continuously brings honor to the Philippines. He did not only show the natural  strength and courage of the Filipino people to the whole world, but he also  exemplified the discipline, determination, and the true excellence of the  Filipino people,"

The Filipino boxer’s fight against USA's 39-year-old ‘Sugar’  Shane Mosley lasted  for 12 rounds and is already the welterweight champ’s14th consecutive triumph. Pacquiao managed to knock Mosley with a right-left combo on the middle of the third round.

In an interview, Pacquiao described  Mosley, "I thought Shane did a great job, he had some speed. I couldn’t  move because my left leg got tight. It’s a problem I’ve been having lately."

The judges' decision of 120-108,  120-107, and 119-108, favored Pacquiao in the conclusion of the said match.
