QUEZON CITY, Philippines - Horror films are getting more and more popular nowadays especially among the younger generation, thus Skylight Films’
‘Amorosa: The Revenge’ is set to open today in theaters, August 29 with Enrique Gil and Martin del Rosario as Angel Aquino’s sons.
The youth seems to be so hooked with the thrill, excitement and the terror that horror films present.
Martin del Rosario will play as Amil, a blind son in the movie, which is something very new to him,
“Working in Amorosa was a different experience for me as an actor. It enhanced my versatility. Playing Amil in the movie was a big challenge because I had to bring out the emotions required by the role with the least body movements and facial expressions.”Coming from another horror film, which is ‘The Healing’, Martin says that his new role is far different from the previous one.
“My character is very loving and caring. Malayo siya sa previous role ko. Kahit my disability siya, he still manages to take care of his mother and brother.”When asked what he thinks that the young people will learn from the movie and quickly responded, “Matutunan nila na kahit maliit lang ang pagkakamali na ginawa mo, ang kapalit niyan, doble-doble pa at triple-triple pa (One will learn that no matter how minute a mistake he or she gets to commit—it’s repercussions might be great).
On how he can associate the movie in relation to the Filipino culture and Filipino values,
“Closeness ng family, yong bonding ng pamilya. That’s what will they learn. Kasi ang mga Filipino naman very intimate, so makikita ng moviegoers yong connection ng bawat isa sa Amorosa.”On the other hand, Enrique Gil will play as Rommel. This is his first horror film movie.
“I love horror movies and I’ve never done one. Kaya I was so excited to do this. It’s hard kasi yong emotions ni Rommel, yong character ko, it required a lot and ang hirap gawin. Pero OK naman, masaya, it felt good working with Direk Topel Lee, Martin and Ms. Angel.
“For me it was fun. I learned a lot, I enjoyed the story, the whole-thing.”

Furthermore, on how he can describe his character,
“Yong character ko ayaw niya talagang saktan ang mom niya eh, pero he is forced to, so don yon nagalalaro ang role ko. First time kong i-portray ang role na gagawin niya pero ayaw niya.”He believes that the moviegoers will learn from this movie about decision-making.
“Don nag-start ang story namin. And there are always two sides of a decision. Kung pinili mo yong isa, may consequences talaga, kahit alam mong mas pinili mo ang tamang decision, at handa ka bang harapin ang consequence na yon? That’s probably what they will learn”, he said.
With these new horror film, Martin del Rosario and Enrique Gil are set to showcase their versatility and brilliance as young actors. With a film that’s promising and which is directed by an expert like Topel Lee, certainly both are on the right track.
