PASAY CITY, Philippines – As Kids Acts Philippines, Inc. (KAPI) celebrates its 10th year anniversary with a special gala performance of its production titled ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, a famous English classic fairytale written by Joseph Jacobs, on Sunday, May 20, 6pm at Star Theater, Star City, CCP Complex.
‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ is the culminating workshop activity of Kids Acts Philippines’ theater program for children from this year’s summer classes dubbed as ‘TheCampArt’, which incorporates singing, dancing, and acting abilities of the actors to create a musical presentation integrating multiple intelligences—recapitulating the whole duration of the program. The group believes that this is one of the best training grounds to hone talents, to boost confidence, to explore creativity, and to develop a relevant notion of observation to varied characters and personalities. Through the said program, it seeks to guarantee the worth of interaction among children in a very fun and unique way of acting exercises and theater games.
Students ages 7-12 for kids and 13-16 for teens enrolled in the program are called ‘TheCampArt’ Kids. Rudiments of theatre are taught to the summer participants and the chance to perform on the professional stage with a showcase that is adapted from classic as their recital.
‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ is a story of a young boy who traded his cow for magic beans that have turned out to be a beanstalk growing up to the sky where a giant lived with his golden harp and golden hen that lays golden eggs.
Luigi Nacario wrote the script, lyrics and directed the show; its music is by Eugene Belbis – also runs and manages KAPI.
KAPI has produced musical plays in several titles that are customized to its workshop students such as ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Peter Pan’, and ‘Pinocchio’.
