MAMBURAO, Occidental Mindoro – There is nothing like experiencing tremendous sports challenges combined with discovering the many features of the natural environment and this is exactly what awaits sports enthusiasts, eco tourists and other guests on May 20, as the Municipality of Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro hosts the 2nd Wild Mambu Trail Run & Aquathlon.
The sports event is a joint project of Philippine Skyrunning Association, the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) and the local government of Mamburao headed by Mayor Voltaire Anthony ‘Bambi’ Villarosa. The two-in-one event is a follow-up to last year’s successful race and will once again showcase the province’s natural surroundings while offering participants a lot of thrills and sports action.
For the aquathlon, participants will be swimming on the clear ocean water of Mamburao and then run on the trail route that includes the beach, the forest, river crossings and the Mangyan village. Trail run participants will utilize the same run route.
At stake in the event are medals for the Top Three Male and Top Three Female finishers of the 4Km Trail Run, the 10 Km Trail run, Mini-Aquathlon (500 meter swim plus 4Km run), Aquathlon (1 Km swim plus 10 Km run) and the Aquathlon Relay (2 members per team).
