MAKATI CITY, Philippines – Due to its successful opening and the clamor of the viewing public, Repertory Philippines’ ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ musical is extended till April 22 and still to be held at Greenbelt One’s Onstage, 8pm shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and matinee shows on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 p.m.

Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, the director of this production was asked if staging this Broadway musical, which was then the longest running show in the history of the Plymouth Theater and when it closed, it recovered about 75% of its US$7 million investment, how does she see Repertory Philippines’ version in terms of ticket sales and does she consider this as a great, but a worthy risk, she says, “Every production is a risk. But as long as one is passionate about what he does, then there is no doubt it will be a success.

“Also, I have a wonderful cast so as production team. I am confident that this risk will translate into ticket sales.”
There are three great reasons to see this musical: first, Junix Inocian’s return to Philippine theater after performing in many productions in West End, as he assumed the esquire, Gabriel John Utterson; then two of theater established names—Michael Williams and Cris Villonco portray Dr. Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde and Emma Carew, respectively; third is the debut appearances of two theater great finds—Jett Pangan of the rock band ‘The Dawn’ and Kalila Aguilos, the beauteous and equally talented sister of singer-theater artist—Bituin Escalante.

Cris Villonco as Emma Carew sang a duet with Michael Williams who is alternating as Dr. Jekyll. Both sang 'Take Me as I am'. The image of Kalila Aguilos as Lucy Harris sang 'Someone Like You' is incorporated to create that cinematic effect. Images and photographs by Jory Rivera.
The show promises to provide a different treatment in terms of presenting the ‘monstrosity’ and ‘duality’ of Dr. Jekyll and Hyde. Its set is something to behold since it gives a Victorian-style operating theater designed by Joey Mendoza; its magnificent costumes by Raven Ong; the perfect synchronization of its music by Only Torres, also debuting as musical director; and Rem Zamora as the ever-amazing assistant director to Ms. Lauchengco-Yulo.
Its cast also includes: Tricia Amper-Jimenez, Steve Cadd, Jack Salud, Red Nuestro, Mayen Bustamante-Cadd, Oliver Usison, Reuben Uy, Jamie Inocian, Jamie Wilson, James Stacey, Natalie Everett, and Hans Eckstein. The ensemble consists of Cara Barredo, Teenee Chan, Liza Infante-Robinson, Giannina Ocampo, Edu Briones, Topper Fabregas, David Fabros, and Gary Junsay.
