MANILA, Philippines – On its 45th year, Repertory Philippines, the country’s leading English-speaking theater company that has produced 900 straight plays and musicals through its 74 seasons, will premiere Geoffrey Naufft’s ‘Next Fall’ on January 13 till February 5, 2012, Onstage, Greenbelt One, Makati City.

Next Fall Bart Guingona plays Adam. As a director, he is known for his eclectic selection of material, from classics like Shakespeare to contemporary ones like Rabe's Hurly Burly.
‘Next Fall’ is a romantic comedy-tragedy and a family-oriented drama set in a very mature tone. It is also considered to be a ‘coming-of-age’ story between two human beings set in 2000-2005 New York City.

The story revolves around Luke and Adam. Luke believes in God and Adam is an atheist. The play depicts the ups-and-downs of a five-year-old relationship of unlikely couples with sharp humor and unflinching honesty. With an accident that occurred, Adam has to rely on Luke’s family and friends and that’s where everything starts to be a little complicated, but engaging and enlightening.

In this Off-Broadway presentation, Bart Guingona will essay the role of Adam, a committed cynic, atheist and hypochondriac. He has played various characters like Oedipus, Hamlet, Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie), and Charlie Brown. David Bianco will breathe into Luke’s character, the born-again Christian and an aspiring actor—the better half of Adam.

Next Fall David Bianco is Luke. This is his first foray in acting for the local theater scene.
Other stars in the production are Liesl Batucan as Holly, Adam’s best friend, Niccolo Manahan as Brandon, Luke’s friend, a property manager. Juno Henares and Miguel Faustmann play Luke’s parents.

Directing ‘Next Fall’ is veteran actor-director Audie Gemora and it is his third directorial assignment after ‘The Fantastiks’ and ‘Equus’.

Gemora clarifies, “This is not a gay play. It is a story about love and how love transcends differences. If audiences pick up that lesson, we will have helped make this a better world.”

‘Next Fall’ is co-presented by City of Makati, Enderun Colleges and Bellarroca Island Resort and Spa.

Fridays and Saturdays shows are at 8pm and matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30pm.
